SONGBUILDER STUDIOS Membership FAQ
Booking & scheduling
How do I book my studio time each month?
Members book sessions using our scheduling system HERE. As a member you get priority access to open slots!
Can I split my hours across multiple sessions, or does it have to be one block?
You can split your hours across multiple sessions, however works best for your schedule and workflow.
What happens if I don't use all my hours in a month?
Hours don't roll over. You need to use them each month, so it's worth booking regularly rather than saving them up.
Can I schedule sessions on nights or weekends?
Yes, we have weekend and night hours available.
What happens if I miss a booked session or need to cancel last minute?
You can cancel 24 hours before your session. If you don’t contact us before your session time, you will forfeit your session hours. Emergencies will be handled on a case-by-case basis and at our discretion.
Money & commitment
What's the 3-month minimum, do I get billed 3 times no matter what?
Yes. Memberships run for a 3-month minimum commitment, billed monthly, before you can cancel.
Can I cancel after the minimum, or does it auto-renew?
You can cancel after the minimum 3-month term, but our goal is to make sure you have the best song you’ve ever recorded so let’s work together to make that happen!
What happens if I go over my included hours?
Additional hours are billed at $90/hr for Builder and $85/hr for Pro, both below the standard $95/hr rate.
Is mixing really not included, and how much does that typically add?
Correct, mixing is a time-consuming and detailed process that has to be done right. We charge a flat fee for mixing because the hours it takes would be cost prohibitive for most clients. However, members get a discounted rate: $450 for multitrack mixing (vs. $550 standard) and $300 for two-track with vocals (vs. $350 standard).
Can I upgrade or downgrade my tier mid-membership?
Absolutely.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards, PayPal, Venmo, and Cash App. If you'd like to spread out the cost, PayPal also offers financing options at checkout (subject to their current terms).
What's actually included
What counts as "studio time," is that just recording, or does it cover editing too?
Everything! Arranging, writing, recording, music and vocal production, and everything in between. We play on most of our productions, included in the price, as well.
Who's the producer/engineer I'll be working with?
You’d be working with Stephen Antonelli or David Favazza based on music genre and your preference.
Does the free mastering apply to any song, or does it have to be recorded here?
We prefer to master productions you record here, but we would be open to mastering a song from another studio.
(Pro only) What does the quarterly consultation actually cover?
The Pro quarterly consultation covers publishing, performing rights organizations (ASCAP/BMI), distribution setup, and sync placement guidance for pitching to music supervisors.
Practical/logistical
Do I need to bring my own gear, or is everything provided?
We have most instruments you need here, but you are free to bring anything you like.
How many people can I bring to a session?
We prefer you come alone or with a friend/family member. We’ve found it’s easier and more efficient to work on a song without too many “cooks in the kitchen”, but you are welcome to bring others if you choose. The studio can comfortably seat up to 5 people.
Is there a limit on the number of songs I can work on per month?
Nope, but your included hours are what determine how much you can realistically complete each month.
